Puff Pastry Apple Pie w/ Frosted Flakes Crumble

People, this pie needs to go down in history. Because, it`s just so darn good, I still dream about eating it. I`m still stoked at how wonderful this creation came to be. HAHA. But, let me back up a little.

About a month ago, Meriem, of the blog Culinary Couture, invited me to be a guest in their Mystery Dish series for this month! Of course, I will!! A group of bloggers are participating in this virtual mystery dish challenge once a month for a year. Once a month, a pre-selected host will reveal a list of ingredients, and everyone must create a recipe using at least 2-3 of the ingredients. It`s a spin-off of a cooking show called Master Chef.

I simply LOVE this little challenge idea. I was so ecstatic when Meriem asked me to be a guest. You don`t even know. ;) The three ingredients I decided to use were apples, puff pastry, and frosted flakes.

I wanted all 3 of the ingredients to shine. I came up with the idea of making a pie, but using puff pastry instead of the standard pie crust. I did a quick Google search and discovered it has done before (of course...). I know cornflakes are used to crust chicken, french, toast, and etc to add a crunchy texture. Since, Frosted Flakes are basically the same thing, I wanted to use their crunchiness to top the pie.

You can`t even imagine how I felt when I took my first bite of this pie. I was in heaven. Pie heaven. I brought it over to my uncle`s house, since it was one of my not-so-little-anymore cousin`s birthday. He told me to bake him something he`s never tried before. Sure, he`s had apple pie before. Like, those McDonald`s $0.50 ones. But, he`s never had THIS pie. A puff pastry apple pie, topped with a frosted flakes crumble, that is.

Everyone said it was amazing. Then, they suggested I make it for Thanksgiving. Once again, of course!! I can`t say "no" to apple pie. It`s my favoritesttt pie in the world. (Yeah, I know that`s not a word. This pie is so fantastic, it`s making me create words!)

Okay, I`ll stop gushing. Look at all of these creations these bloggers created for their mystery dish challenge this month:
