I got an ice cream maker a few months ago....and I`ve been making ice cream like crazy. Almost obsessive-like. My favorite food ever is ice cream. I eat it for breakfast, lunch snack, dessert, midnight snack and all else in between.
Trust me, I am not proud to admit this. I won`t tell you not to do this...but I won`t stop you either. ;)
So one day I went crazy buying stuff to make different ice cream flavors with like fresh strawberries, toffee bits, peppermint extract, chocolate, and etc.
A sad reality hit me soon after I bought all of these ingredients. I couldn`t make all of them in one day. I couldn`t eat them fast enough either! LOL.
So I had to make a really really tough decision. What flavor should I make next?
I decided on these. Since strawberries weren`t going to last all that long, I decided to cut and hull them before placing them in the freezer until they were frozen. (I put them in the freezer the day before making these, but I`m sure several hours will be good enough.)
I think the sour cream really made these taste like frozen yogurt. It's slightly icy after I had it in the fridge for awhile, but it still taste like frozen yogurt! I loved eating this. It was definitely refreshing to eat during the summer for sure. Plus, it is incredibly simple to make!
FYI, my ice cream in the picture looks funny because instead of buying a scoop, i bought an ice cream spade. My ice cream scoop broke, so I wanted to buy a new one. I bought it online, but it didn`t occur to me that an ice cream scoop and an ice cream spade was different. I`m not sure why.

ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt is definitely becoming deadly! I just keep making ice cream!
Hi Lynna! This frozen yogurt looks amazing! The color is just so vibrant and pretty. I love strawberry frozen yogurt. I've made it before and loved it!
ReplyDeleteThe color of the ice cream was beautiful! I was happily surprised! :)
DeleteI just got my ice cream machine not long ago too. :) Yes, I think obsessive is the right word to describe me in the ice cream making behavior as well. LOL....I love the pretty pink color in your frozen yogurt. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally understandable!! LOL Thanks!
DeleteThis has made me want an ice cream maker all over again. I can't believe I am living through the summer without one! This looks SO good!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good investment! Plus, if you look for it on sale...even better! I got mine from Costco for only $25 since it was on sale!

ReplyDeleteAnd what's an ice cream spade??
Ahaha, thanks! An ice cream spade looks like a gardener's spade, but for ice cream. LOL a ridiculous way to scoop ice cream. XD
DeleteWhat a coincidence! I am making strawberry FY ice cream tomorrow morning! I should have read your post before and bought the sour cream. Next time I will follow your recipe. It looks really delicious! And I do have both Ice Cream Spade and scooper, but I didn't know it's called "spade. I learned something new today. :-D
ReplyDeleteLOL.
DeleteI`m sure your version would be delicious as well! I`ll love to try it. :)
I haven't had a chance to come back and tell you, but I found sour cream in my fridge so I made yours instead. I used organic very sweet strawberries too, and it was so delicious! Thank you for the great recipe! I'll link back to you when I post it this summer. :-)
DeleteYay! Thanks for coming back to me to know how it went for you! It really made my day! ^__^
DeleteNever mind if you didn’t have a scoop, your ice cream still looks great, Lynna! :) It’s really fun making the yogurt, isn’t it? Anyway, frozen yogurt helps boost one’s immune system because of the probiotics. Also, being a good source of calcium, it can also help in weight management.
